Administration and Communications Officer for the PETRA-E Network (4 hours per week)

  • Duration: 1 November 2022 – 1 May 2023 (and possibility of prolongation)
  • Remuneration: €750 (6 months)

The PETRA-E Network invites applications for the post of Administration and Communications Officer.

About PETRA-E

PETRA-E is a network for the education and training of literary translators. It continues the work of the PETRA-E project, which was funded 2014-2016 by Erasmus+ and resulted in the PETRA-E Framework of Reference for the Education and Training of Literary Translators (petra-educationframework.eu). This Framework (which is available in 11 languages) defines competences and levels in literary translating in order to improve the quality of literary translations and the visibility of literary translators in Europe. The Network aims to facilitate European collaboration and exchange for the education and training of literary translators. This is important in a small-scale educational field that has many possible language combinations. The Network has 30 members and is growing.

About the Role

The Administration and Communications Officer is tasked with the maintenance of the PETRA-E website (petra-education.eu) and the existing PETRA-E social media channels (groups on Facebook and LinkedIn), as well as developing the Network’s social media presence and carrying out some administrative tasks in support of the Network Board. They will update the website with new content and information relevant to the Network’s activities, and play an active role in promoting the visibility of the Network to the target groups (institutions that educate and train literary translators). The Officer will be expected to propose new content and help to implement new online services as they emerge, also to support the Board in preparing documents and newsletters for the Network members and in preparation of Network meetings. They will be expected to attend occasional meetings online, but will not be required to attend meetings in person. They are expected to devote approx. 4 hours per week to the role, and will receive an honorarium of €750/6 months.

Skills

  • Knowledge of modern content management software and web standards;
  • Experience in social media communication;
  • Excellent written communication skills in English;
  • Familiarity with literary translation, teaching and/or academic networks;
